This morning, I entered the Dewey’s Read-a-Thon, a 24-hour reading contest. Normally, I’m not a deadline kinda girl, but this seems fun.
In the spirit of reading “non-stop” from now until 8 a.m. tomorrow, the blinds in bedroom are wide open, have my snacks handy, and there’s a pile of books surrounding me. Join me or be my cheerleader won’t you. I’ll be on twitter and Facebook (somewhat), so wish me luck.
Here’s my first hour meme:
Where are you reading from today?
I’m reading books from my Sistahs on the Shelf TBR list and a couple of my own personal picks
3 facts about me …
1. I love to read (duh!), and have been since I was 3 years old.
2. My favorite genres are gay/lesbian fiction, classic lit and African-American fiction.
3. Gardettos are getting me through the day.
How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
About 6. Not trying to overdo it, and read the necessary books first.
Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
To answer that takes the fun out of it. I just want to have read, have fun, socialize and meet new readers.
If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time?
I’m a Read-a-Thon virgin so…
